Albury Wodonga Health has confirmed the arrival of an ultra-low temperature freezer at Wodonga Hospital.

The 502-litre freezer will allow the hospital to safely store the Pfizer vaccine at it's required -70 degrees.

The freezer is already operational, and they are working on connecting it to the Building Management System, which will raise the alarm if the temperature drops below the acceptable range.

There are also 493 vaccination fridges on their way to the facility, to help with storage for the AstraZeneca shot, which only needs to be kept at -2.8 degrees.

The rollout of the Pfizer jab will begin in the week following the Labour Day long weekend, going primarily to frontline workers.

Wider community vaccination is expected to begin in early April.
