Tennis legends Todd Woodbridge and John Fitzgerald will headline a local fundraising event in June.

The event is billed as a pre-Wimbledon style ball, and is designed to raise money for equipment at the Wodonga Tennis Centre.

Phil Shanahan from the Margaret Court Tennis Academy says the event is the brainchild of John Fitzgerald.

“We had a mower at the Wodonga Tennis Centre go to heaven and we had to buy a new one, and Fitzy (John Fitzgerald) who’s been up at the Wodonga Tennis Centre recently said, ‘let’s do something to raise money to pay for this new mower’,” Phil explained.

“So the two boys are coming up and it’s going to be a great night in the lead up to Wimbledon – especially with Todd Woodbridge who is a 9-time winner of the Wimbledon doubles title.”

Although the finer details of the event are yet to be finalised, it will be held on Saturday 26 June at the Commercial Club in Albury.
