SES Warn of Storms

Storms Heading For The Border North East

Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) is warning to take care as severe thunderstorms make their way from NSW into Victoria’s North East. The Bureau of Meteorology have advised that severe thunderstorms are likely to form and intensify this afternoon through to about 8 pm tonight.

Locations which may be affected include (but is not limited to) Wodonga, Wangaratta, Corryong, Bright and Falls Creek areas. These storms may bring:

Localised damaging and possibly destructive winds.
Winds of over 90 km/h have been already been reported at Mt Hotham.
Heavy rain falling in a short period of time, leading to flash flooding, which can result in fast moving and powerful floodwater that can come and go so quickly that there may not be time to warn you.
Large hailstones and Lightning
