Rise From The Ashes

Concert Line Up Announced

A concert driven by the fire affected community of the Upper Murray has attracted some well-known Australian artists.

Rise from the Ashes has been created as a New Year’s Eve party that the locals never got to celebrate due to the bushfires. Among the artists that will headline the 29 February – 1 March concert weekend is Sara Storer and James Blundell.

Event co-ordinator Jo Humphrey says securing the country music stalwarts is a coup.

“It’s a great blessing to have them on board, as well as some local artists such as Red Belly Black who perform Fleetwood Mac, Danny Phegan and quite a few other local artists,” Jo said.

The concert weekend will also feature children’s entertainment, market stalls and auction items on offer to help raise money that will be distributed to locals.

“All money will go direct to the Upper Murray, the farmers, local businesses and community groups. They will all be getting 100% of the donations,” Jo told 2AY.

Thousands of people have expressed an interest in attending the event which has been very humbling for the organisers.

“From our little idea of a having a few people get together, to having to moving the concert out to the Cudgewa football oval to cater for it it’s been a great response,” Jo said.
