Sixty regional airports will receive a share of $41.2 million in funding

Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack has announced a $40 million scheme going towards 60 regional airports.

Yarrawonga, Corryong and Mount Hotham will share in the $41.2 million in funding to help Australia's aviation industry get through COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr McCormack says the regional airports program will assist the owners of regional airports to undertake essential works, promoting aviation safety and access for regional Australians.

The funding is in addition to the federal government's $1.2 billion support package for Australia's aviation industry during the pandemic.

Corryong Airport will receive $262,000 for a 24-hour self-serve aviation facility to assist medical and firefighting planes, with $164,000 handed to Mount Hotham Skiing Company and $137,500 granted to Moira Shire Council.

Mount Beauty Airport is being upgraded to include the lengthening and widening of the runway.
