The RSL Poppy Appeal is underway and we’re being urged to buy and wear a poppy to remember and support our veterans, both past and present.
RSL Victoria President Dr Rob Webster, says poppies were among the first plants to bloom on the battlefields of Belgium and France after World War 1, and have since become a sign of remembrance.
In NSW, State Headquarters and the Albury sub branch could not agree on percentage of profits from the poppies, and they will again be available free of charge at St Mathews on Sunday.
There is also a major centenary commemoration at Pioneer Cemetery at 4pm.
Last year poppies were also given away in Albury after a corruption scandal hit State Headquarters.
