Residents In Border Bubble No Longer Required To Have Permit

Residents on both sides of the Murray River have been given a reprieve overnight, with changes to the 'border bubble' coming into effect at 11:59pm.

The Victorian government announced on Sunday it was changing all LGA's within the bubble except for Albury, still in lockdown, to a red zone classification. This means residents will no longer need to obtain a cross border permit to travel between state lines.

Residents will be able to travel across freely for daily life, provided they have not been in Albury or outside of the border bubble on the NSW side in the last 14 days.

Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley said it was good news for border residents.

"We know that communities along the border have seen a lot of changes to the system, but it's good news that most border residents will be able to use the permit exception that used to be in place - and additionally, many Victorians who have been in regional New South Wales will now be able to come home to isolate in Victoria," Mr Foley said.
