The Splitters Creek Fire Brigade between Howlong and Albury have been the target of professional thieves who have stolen essential items.

Their Facebook page reports over $10,000 worth of equipment including vital communication equipment, a 45L fridge, an ipad, a jump starter pack, chainsaws, and many other items have been stolen.

Group Officer of the Southern Border Team, Ian Avage says the selfish act of the thieves has put both the community and firefighters in jeopardy.

"It's disappointing that the firefighters donate their time to protect their communities and in turn, the communities donate to fire brigades for the gear that’s been lost... so its been community donated funds that have enabled us to purchase this gear," he said.

There's a current plea out to the public to keep an eye out for items that may come up for sale that were stolen from the Splitters Creek Fire Station.

If items are offered in the community please contact the Albury Detectives who have this as an ongoing investigation.
