Border pass issue resolved and businesses closed

Border pass for NHW workers resolved

More than 80 staff can return to work - after the NSW border pass issue was resolved for Northeast Health Wangaratta staff.

The Chief Health Officer granted individual exemptions for the NSW resident staff who were unable to travel to Wangaratta for work.

It means the staff can now work, and on re-entering NSW will not be required to self-isolate.

Vic Government doesn't want to put regional areas into lockdown

Regional Victoria will avoid a lockdown for now, the Victorian Chief Health Officer says.

There is currently no kind of growth in community transmission, but there are settings where outbreaks have occurred such as in Colac.

Premier Dan Andrews thanked regional Victorians for wearing masks, where you can’t maintain 1.5 metres in distance.

Case of COVID-19 in Wangaratta has been removed

On Friday the case of COVID-19 recorded in Wangaratta was removed by the Department of Health and Human Services.

There are no new active cases in Wangaratta.

Wodonga Library COVID-scare

The Wodonga Library is expected to get the all clear to re-open today after Friday’s sudden closure.

A visitor from one of Melbourne’s hotspots went to the library seeking a permit to cross the border.

Police were notified, and staff on duty were sent home.

Border business forced to temporarily close

A business on the border has been forced to temporarily close, due to an attempted COVID-19 breach.

Police warned the owners of Border Heating and Cooling on Thursday, after it was discovered a woman had moved to Wodonga from Melbourne.

Workers that were undertaking a job at her house were forced to get tested for coronavirus and isolate while waiting for test results.
