Arrest After Allegedly Dragging An Albury Detective

A man has been arrested after allegedly dragging a Detective with a stolen car in Albury last month.

Police have been told between 2pm Saturday 30 May and 2pm Sunday 31 May, a white Mercedes Benz was stolen from a repair store.

About 5pm on the Sunday [31/5], the Mercedes was located by police and followed to Burrows Road, Albury, where it stopped in a driveway.

As a detective opened the car door and attempted to remove the driver, Jereko Jackson from the vehicle, the driver allegedly began to reverse at speed, dragging the police officer along the driveway before the officer managed to roll away under the open driver door.

The police officer sustained bruising and minor injuries.

The vehicle continued to reverse into an unmarked police car, before driving off along Burrows Road.

A pursuit was initiated but terminated a short time later due to safety reasons.

The Mercedes was later located at a home on Fern Place, Albury about 5.50pm.

A 19-year-old man was found hiding in a hotel room in Wodonga on Monday [15/6] and arrested.

He was taken to Wodonga Police Station, where NSW Police have successfully applied for his extradition to NSW and faces 10 charges.

Police are still seeking a passenger in the car, 22 year old Taleah Corboy.
